This nutrition web site is produced by the Center for Science in the Public Interest, Washington, D.C. Since 1971, this consumer/nutrition advocacy organization has conducted research on food, alcohol, health, the environment and other issues related to science and technology; has represented the citizen’s interests before regulatory, judicial and legislative bodies on food, alcohol, health and the environment; and has educated the public through its newsletter, Nutrition Action Healthletter. CSPI encourages Congress to pass new nutrition and food-safety laws, encourages government agencies to sponsor nutrition campaigns, and urges food companies to change the way they make, sell, and advertise food to make food safer and make it easier for people to eat well and be more physically active.
